I am a Des Moines, Iowa native currently attending Grand View College. I have a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Visual Arts. I am currently pursuing a B.A. in Art Education.
My work is based on my memories of growing up as an only child. Desperately in need of a playmate, I created them through art. My imaginary playmates came to life in a world full of vibrant colors. It is through those childhood memories, that i am inspired to create my current works.
I am deeply influenced by 20th century movements such as Dadaism, Art Nouveau, Cubism, Abstract Expressionism, and Surrealism, including artists Paul Klee, Gustav Klimt, and Georgia O'Keeffe. Their work has a connection to abstract and non-objective art and has inspired me to think outside the box. As an individual, my art and it's process is a way of losing myself, running away from reality straight into the arms of my fantasy worlds.
I find shapes and squiggles alluring with their curves and variety. My goal with fantasy art is for the viewer to find peace and tranquility within, to find reason to unanswered questions. I hope you enjoy my work. Feel free to make comments and suggestions. God Bless.
